The U.S. Cadet Nurses answered their nation's call during World War II. Today, we're asking a new generation to answer a different call—to preserve their legacy for the future. 

USCADETNURSE.ORG is entirely volunteer-driven. Today, correspondence, research, and website administration are coordinated by a single dedicated volunteer. Together, we've built one of the nation's largest online collections documenting the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps—but there is much more to do. 

Whether you're a student, educator, healthcare professional, software developer, designer, filmmaker, historian, researcher, storyteller, or simply someone who believes that important stories should never be forgotten, you can help shape the future of this project.

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the U.S. Cadet Nurse Foundation accepts tax-deductible donations that directly support the website and its mission to prserve, share, and expand the legacy of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. 

Preserve a Story

Every Cadet Nurse has a story worth preserving. 

If a Cadet Nurse is part of your family—or someone in your community—take time to interview them. Record their memories using your phone, a video camera, or an audio recorder. Scan photographs, letters, diaries, uniforms, and other memorabilia. These personal stories help future generations understand what it meant to serve during World War II. 

We'll help preserve these stories through USCADETNURSE.ORG so they remain available for students, researchers, educators, and families. 

Organize a Community Event

History comes alive when people share it together. 

Host a luncheon, community conversation, classroom presentation, library program, museum event, or fundraising activity celebrating the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. Invite former Cadet Nurses, their families, nursing students, veterans, and local historians to participate. 

Share photos and stories from your event so they can inspire others across the country.

We're building a national network of organizations committed to preserving the legacy of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. 

We welcome partnerships with universities, nursing schools, museums, libraries, archives, historical societies, healthcare organizations, vereans organizations, community groups, and nonprofit organizatons. 

Together, we can expand educational programs, preserve collections, develop exhibits, and make Cadet Nurse history accessible to new audiences.

Advance Research

The U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps transformed nursing education in America. 

The program standardized nursing education nationally and opened opportunities for women from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds, including African American, Native American, Latina, and Japanese American students during a pivotal period in American history. 

There is still much to learn. 

We invite historians, nurses, educators, graduate students, political scientists, sociologists, archivists, and interdisciplinary researchers to explore the Cadet Nurse Crops thw scholarship and public history projects. 

Research opportunities include nursing education, healthcare policy, women's history, civil rights, military history, workforce development, higher education, and public health. 

Record Oral Histories

One conversation can preserve a lifetime of history. 

Many Cadet Nurses have already shared their stories through the Library of Congress Veterans History Project, but many more stories remain untold. 

If you are interested in conducting interview, we can help you locate resources, including the Veterans History Project Field Kit and other oral history guidance. Even a simple interview recorded on a smartphone can become an invaluable historical record.

Our goal isn't simply to maintain a website. 

We're creating a living digital archive that uses modern technology—including artifical intelligence, multimedia storytelling, searchable collections, and interactive educational tools—to connect new generations with one of America's most remarkable stories of service. 

Every donation, every volunteer, every interview, every photograph, every research project, and every shared story helps ensure that the courage and leadership of more than 124,000 U.S. Cadet Nurses will continue to educate and inspire generations to come. 

History survives because people choose to preserve it.
