Miriam Weissman Sprince

Miriam Ruth Weissman Sprince, a registered nurse whose career spanned more than fifty years, died peacefully in her sleep on February 21, 2025, in Boynton Beach, Florida, after suffering a stroke while under hospice care at her assisted living residence. She was formerly of Phoenix, Arizona, and Boston, Massachhhusetts. She was born on December 14, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, to William and Gladys Weissman. She was the eldest of three children, her brother Morton, and the youngest child, her sister Barbara.
During the height of World War II, Miriam decided on a career in nursing. She enrolled in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps at Bellevue School of Nuring, New York University. She graduated from the program in March, 1948, and was licensed to practice as a "Registered Professional Nurse" in the State of New York in Mary 1948, embarking on a nursing career that spanned over fifty years.
Miriam's career included surgery and obstetrics. She was an obstetrics nursing supervisor at Beth Israel Hospital for eight years and later as head nurse at Allergy Associates, both in Boston, for ten years. She also served as an obstetrics nurse at the University of California Hospital in Irvine and later worked part time at both Plantation General Hospital and Coral Springs Medical Center, both in Florida.
